Cree and Christian: Encounters and Transformations

About the Book

This book focuses on the religious practices of Cree and Métis people at Trout Lake and Peerless Lake, Alberta. In particular, the book examines the religious history of these and other related communities since the late 19th century, and provides a detailed discussion of the contemporary religious scene, including the importance of Pentecostals worshipping in Cree-led churches. This is the most important book to examine in detail Indigenous Pentecostalism in Canada, and a significant contribution to global literature on Indigenous Christianities.
