About the Author
Marie Battiste, Professor of Educational Foundations, founder and first Director, Aboriginal Education Research Centre, University of Saskatchewan, is a Mi’kmaw scholar, knowledge keeper and educator. Her book, Protecting Indigenous Knowledge and Heritage, co-authored with Sa’ke’j Youngblood Henderson, won the 2000 Saskatchewan Book Award for First Peoples’ Publishing.
