Across the Aisle: Opposition in Canadian Politics

David E. Smith is professor emeritus, Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Regina. His publications include works on Parliament, the constitution and federalism.

Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, David grew up in Ontario and British Columbia. He obtained a BA (UWO) and MA and PhD (Duke), taught at the University of Saskatchewan for 40 years, and has been associated with the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy for seven years. He is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada.
