Reader's Choice Award Winners
Starting in 2007, the Readers' Choice Award is chosen by readers throughout Saskatchewan. All of the entries received by July 31 each year are eligible for this award. The entries are placed on ballots and distributed to libraries throughout Saskatchewan. Voting takes place during the month of September at public libraries or online at www.reginalibrary.ca.
A shortlist is compiled consisting of the 4-6 books that received the most votes and it is announced at the Shortlist News Conference in October along with the shortlists for all of the other awards. The winner is announced at the annual Awards Gala and the author receives a $2000 cash award, thanks to the sponsorship by the Regina Public Library.

* In 2005, a special one-time only "My Favourite Saskatchewan Book" Centennial contest was held in partnership between the Saskatchewan Publishers Group, the Saskatchewan Library Association and the Saskatchewan Book Awards.
A volunteer committee from the wider book world (librarians, professors, bookstore employees) composed a list of 100 Saskatchewan books. Their only criteria were that the books were still in print and the author had spent at least part of their life in this province. Only one book per author was allowed on the ballot to maximize the number of authors featured. Hundreds of book lovers from around the province and across Canada voted.
The winner of this unique honour, announced at the 2005 Gala, was A Prairie Alphabet by Jo Bannatyne-Cugnet and illustrated by Yvette Moore. This was a separate award than the regular Reader's Choice Award which was won by The Encyclopedia of Saskatchewan that year.
